Busy, Busy, Busy

Sharpening the knives,

Test the alarm system,
Clean and load the guns,

Nothing serious here, but there was a murder a block away, with no motive and no suspect.

Awkward, that is.

4 suspects dead in police shooting in Miami area

Published - Jul 01 2011 07:06AM EST

MIAMI — Authorities in Miami-Dade County say police shot and killed four suspects during a confrontation after they got out of their vehicles wearing ski masks and carrying guns.

Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta says the robbery bureau was investigating Thursday evening in the southwestern section of the county when they learned of suspicious activity.

Several suspects were identified and due to their criminal history, Zabaleta says the department's special response team was called in.

According to Zabaleta, the suspects arrived in the area wearing ski masks and carrying guns. A confrontation occurred as the men got out of their vehicles. Shots were fired and four suspects were killed.

Zabaleta says none of the police officers were injured.

No other details were immediately available.

Who needs details? Idiots confront cops with guns wearing masks.

Idiots get shot lots.

Cops reload, take pictures, get garbage off streets.

Normally, I don't carry a gun, though after my time in Florida City last fall, I do now. Scary place, don't leave anything in your car, don't fill up at a stop and rob(the name fits) after dark, don't go to Walmart unless you are of Cuban decent. I know of one guy stopped for driving the speed limit, then advised to drive like everyone else (speeding) or get shot for being a gang banger, or pulled by every cop in Dade county for suspicious behavior.

Subject: Darrell Scott - Columbine High School
Sharing.....
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm?
On Thursday, May 8, 2008, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton , Colorado , was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.
They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:

Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. ! 'The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used. Neither was it the N CA , the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.
'In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent. I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy, it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question 'Why?'
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

'Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And, when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs, politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lie swithin our own hearts.
'As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School , prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA, I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!'

Do what the media did not - let the nation hear this man's speech. Please send this out to everyone you can..

GOD BLESS.

Let's hear it for gun free zones and more safety for murderers and lunatics, a few country boys with shot guns in the rack in the back of their trucks would have been more than enough deterrent to keep the goth boys in line.

Lives saved and not a shot fired.

A Gun in the House

The purpose of fighting is to win.
There is no possible victory in defense.
The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more importantthan either.
The final weapon is the brain.
All else is supplemental.
As John Steinbeck once said:
1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'lljust kill you.
2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.
4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.
5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporterrecognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why doyou carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.'
6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.
7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented onhis wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are youexpecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would havebrought my rifle.'
8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there's more!I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said Idid.
She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!'To which I said, of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!'She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into yourhouse?'My reply was, 'No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.
'To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is likehaving a car in the garage without gas in the tank.
I'm a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment! If you are too, please forward.

The post said "Please Forward",

done.

Short Guns I have Known 1

I would like to preface this series by saying, although I'm a certified instructor and a life long gun nut, I am not a know-it-all. I have shot many different weapons, I reserve the right to fire any hand gun that is new to me, when I teach a fire arms class. I get around a little, in some odd groups, some military, some police, and know a couple of murderous bastards who always have something nasty in their pocket. I am always interested in new things to shoot. I've had the chance to shoot hand guns ranging from a river boat gamblers break top .38SW revolver to the newest Walther 9mm. That doesn't cover everything by any means, but it's a good sample.

These weapons are all legally owned.

The pistol pictured above is a Jennings / Bryco .22 semi auto. It is the Saturday night special everyone is terrified of. It cost the grand sum of $65. The weapon is a lot of fun to shoot. It comes with two clips that hold seven shots each. It is surprisingly accurate considering the cast in place sights, the twenty or so pounds of ragged trigger pull, and the totally inadequate grips. With the use of carefully managed trigger control, one can hit regularly a three inch circle ten or so feet away. Not a tack driver, but if you sit on someones chest and stick it up their nose, entirely adequate for self defence. The body silencer position is also adequate. I know people who have shot these things to death, the top of the slide completely worn through. Like I said a lot of fun to shoot.
.

I bought this on on the recommendation of a retired SF type who made the statement, "I like these because if you ever have to use it, you just kick it under a coke machine and it will never be found, you just report it stolen."
.

As I said odd circles.
.

This gun can be easily covered by my double extra lovely hands, however, as it has three moving parts and a plastic safety, there isn't enough money readily available to persuade me to stick it in my pocket.

.
There are some places that a tourniquet just wouldn't do!

Gun advice

Bonnie,I can't disagree with any of the comments posted here, so let me add a few facts.

Unless you use jacketed .38 bullets in your .357, you could build up lead and powder deposits that would make loading the longer .357 rounds difficult.

A pure .38+P is alfully close to a .357, and a really good choice. A long time friend, a Navy Seal with two tours in Vietnam, sheriff deputy and training officer for his department requests those because of the increased accuracy, due to decreased flinch.

A lighter weapon means more felt recoil and more possibility of flinching.

The only way to shoot good is to shoot a lot. Cheap is neat.

As a practical matter, two rounds in the chest of an attacker will just about cure his problems no matter what you use.

If you can hit what you are shooting at, anything will work, if you can't, nothing will work.

My carry gun is a SIG P230SS in .380 with Hornady hollow points. I highly recommend stainless handguns as I am a sorry bastard and hate to clean guns.

Above was my post to Bonnie regarding her first (?) handgun.

D.C. about to get self defence?

Research shows that law-abiding citizens using firearms for protection can save lives and deter crimes. In Armed: New Perspectives on Gun Control, co-authors Gary Kleck and Don Kates note that "as many as 2.5 million victims use guns to defend against crime each year" and "handguns are actually used by victims to repel crime far more often than they are by criminals in committing crimes - as much as three times more."

Dean Borelli posting at TownHall, interesting reading.

The Aliens have taken over!

I heard a POSITIVE comment, on GMA, about an elderly lady defending her property against thieves.

She was Miss America in 1942, and balanced on her walker as she shot out the tires of their car.

God Love her! They wisely waited for the police. Now, how do you tell the boys how bad you are when Grannie holds your A$$ at gun point?

The Big Rock

I have made comment about a certain lack of judgement on my part. It's true, I try to do better, but sometimes I get distracted, and forget to think about what the heck I am about to screw up. Sometimes I trust the wrong people, like family, like my sister. Especially my sister. I think I may have mentioned that she stopped some of my cousins from hanging me with the plow lines, so she could enjoy the job her self. ( I was small and unarmed at the time.)

I don't visit anymore because I have learned that my immediate family expects me to be incredibly gullible. I am expected to believe the most barefaced lie, even when I was there when the lie was concocted. It's just waaaay too much trouble and too stressful.

A long time ago, before I came to my senses, and disappeared, I went to visit my sister. I know she was never very fond of me. The fact that she wouldn't let anyone kill me, was colored by little acts like gouging me in the eye with a finger when no one was looking. She had a small lapse in judgement her ownself, she allowed me to get bigger than her, and faster. She has never whipped me in the first quarter mile.

I used to go to redneck country fairly often. I always carry a weapon, now, when I go to those places. I forgot once, no more.

Most people think they know what a red neck is, they don't. If they ever find themselves face to face with a true, mountain born, inbred, ignorant, trouble making, person of the redneck variety, and survive, their laundry person will likely be very miffed. My sister is a card carrying, charter member of that society.

My sister lived in one of those places where there are shoes available, but only for Sunday Prayer Meeting. Most of her neighbors were too far away to give you a clue as to the local environment. There are some state institutions around there, prisons and such. There are also one or two private businesses. One of those was The Big Rock.

The Big Rock was a "club" where locals would gather to play pool, listen to a little music, and perhaps have an adult beverage. Unfortunately, they had no licence, for anything, particularly the liquor in those Mason jars. The pool table (1) had one light bulb, maybe 40watt, and the building had no windows. I mean really there's nothing to see here, so why would you need windows. The field, I mean parking lot, was most always full. The Big Rock that gave the club it's name was right in front of the door, in the perfect place to keep a car from getting too close to the patrons. It also would give good cover if the party inside spilled over to the road.

My sibling was a regular to the place and for some reason wanted to introduce me to the owner of this little cabaret. As I mentioned earlier, I most always carry a handgun when in that area and I'm not terrible about leaving it lay about. I would wear a bomber jacket with a slit pocket on the inside, and put a revolver in there. Except this time, I left it in the glove box. We wheeled up to the club, hopped out and strolled in.

Oh! Damn!

There had to be fifty or sixty people in there, and when we broke the plane of the door, it was like everyone was frozen in their tracks. Don't run they can smell your fear! About that time if anyone had flinched you could have smelled me all the way to the county line. Keep moving and try to make believe the whites of your eyes always look like search lights. I told me "fool, fool, fool, you have left your gun at home"! What, exactly, I would have done with a revolver, at that point I have NO idea. Try to put out the lights and then hide? Dive under the pool table and use it like a hammer to smack toes? Shoot myself to save them the trouble? I saw people that I worked with every day, and they wouldn't meet my eyes or speak. The only thing I could remember was the news article about the prison guard who caught his wife's boyfriend there, held him against the wall with a shotgun, and then had someone else cut him up with a straight razor. Fun loving lot there!

While all the bad things are going through my head, I am following my sister to the back, to be introduced to the owner. He turned out to be a very nice man, who offered me his hand, I was more than glad to shake it. When I did, the party started back up.

Sis, on the other hand, was totally oblivious to everything. I should have remembered, she would never let anything bad happen to me, she wants to do the job herself.

It's positively amazing how much stuff can whirl between your ears when you think it's about to drop into the pot.
