Discussing oil while we are on the edge of depression.

This is typical Bush White House politics. It's Orwellian," Reid added. "He has the power, with the signing of a pen, to release more options for offshore drilling -- he has the power to do this.

"Congress imposed a moratorium on offshore drilling in 1981 and has extended it annually each year for all coastal waters, except for parts of the Gulf of Mexico and some waters off the coast of Alaska.

But Sen. John Isakson (R-Ga.) told Cybercast News Service that while it would be "appropriate" for the president to rescind the executive order, the real burden is on Congress. "He [Bush] is encouraging Congress to do it because that, in fact, vacates the current pending restriction on exploration," Isakson said. "We are sitting on a ham sandwich starving to death. There should not be a source available to us that we are not enhancing."

You will notice several things in the above article from Cyber Cast,

First, the people talking in circles are Dems.

Second, the president is having to ask Congress to lift the moratorium, something he can't do.

Third, the response of Dems is a straw man to kick the president in the news.

Fourth, the entire damn thing is posturing, doing nothing so no one can blame anyone if something doesn't go right. The party position before the election is basically, do nothing, so you won't have to explain anything!

A$$Holes!

So true. It should be up to the states to decide if they want oil revenue at $140 a barrel.

Congress and the white house are just engaging in politics as usual.
