Ironic that...

Tonight I watched a college educated, Navy trained, NRC licensed Senior Reactor Operator slap a Fax Machine, because he couldn't find the start button.

I touched his shoulder, grabbed his hand, and opened the (obvious to me) cover and showed him the button.

A technically competent nuke, who can't operate a technologically simple device, God help us all!

Now WHERE are you exactly again, DW, and which direction are the prevailing winds?

Might be good to know if this guy is on duty. ;)

Is he the Homer Simpson on your shift?

I relate to this very well--unfortunately, not with you but with him. (sigh)(by the way, does anyone know why we have so many words with a silent g-h? We have sigh, high, nigh, but not ligh. Why?) Lift the cover over the fax start button. Oh. I knew that. As Tiny Tim so famously said, "God bless us, every one! And then there's today's news story about the nuclear warhead storage building in the Texas Panhandle having "serious vulnerabilities" to lightning strikes. Life apparently is always a little more exciting than we realize.
