Yesterday I met aliens for the first time.

Not really, but it kind of feels that way. I had a request for a Concealed Carry Handgun class. Two of the participants were women who had never in their entire lives even touched a firearm. These ladies were not spring chickens, so their distance from the shooting sports was even more amazing.

That pitiful situation has been well, and truely remedied. We started with target .22's and worked our way through .380, 9mm, .45, and a few rounds of .44 mag.

All without a single snicker from the guys. They had a ball, and are ready to go again. Each earned their CCH Certificate, and a great deal of respect for being open minded and game.

This was one of the best classes I have had, best discussion, best test scores, and most fun for me.

I am coming to understand how much fear is in the lives of some people. One of the ladies threshold for an immediate deadly threat is very, very low. Thankfully she will never stick a gun in her pocket and go to town.

They don't even own a handgun.

My dad and sister took the CHL class recently to renew their license. We're a hunting family, so it's all old hat. Anyway, the other 6 people in the class were dead fish and seemed unengaged in the whole process, so no doubt, Dad who has an arsenal was pretty restless. At the end of the class when they needed to fill the time, my sister was utterly aghast when dad took the opportunity to tell a vile un-PC joke. (not sexual, btw) I think the classes are always a mixed bag.

Glad y'all had fun, and happy belated birthday!
